Nicolò Terrei was born in 1951. In 1970, he obtained an Italian Master License from Istituto Tecnico Nautico Leoni Acciaiuoli in Ortona, Italy and has gained over 24 years of experience onboard various dry and liquid cargo vessels. In 1994, he was assigned as Superintendent for Coeclerici Group assisting all vessels for certification under the International Safety Management (ISM) Code. He became Director for Coeclerici (CC) Group Manning Agency in Manila, Philippines in 1998, responsible for monitoring and the control of performance of the crew onboard. During the same assignment, he directed the surveillance of construction and the start-up of transhipping dry cargo dedicated for lightering in the Persian Gulf. During the same period, he also attended special surveys of all the Group’s vessels that were dry docked in various shipyards in Asia. In his vision to bring Filipinos to the forefront of the global seafaring industry, he led the conceptualization and founding of the Italian Maritime Academy Phils., Inc. in 2007, together with Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) and CONFITARMA for the development of programs dedicated to the competence and development of Filipino seafarers. He became Director of Augustea Ship Manning Philippines Inc. handling different types of dry cargo vessels from 2014 up to the present. In 2017, he was awarded the title of Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia by the Ambassador of Italy in recognition to his contributions to the Philippine Maritime Industry and to the maritime relations between Philippines and Italy.
