Augustea Atlantica Spa owns and operates the Group ocean-going fleet, presently consisting of 14 dry bulk carriers for an aggregate capacity of 1.1 M dwt. The owned fleet to be expanded in the near future by 2 newbuildings (one Post-Panamax bulkers due in 2010 built by Sungdong in Korea and one Minicape due in 2011 by New Times Shipbuilding, China).

Atlantica also has joint shareholding interests in a fleet of 11 vessels (panamax and kamsarmax bulk carriers). The overall dry bulk carriers fleet thus consists of 28 ships with approximately 2,500,000 dwt and 10 years of weighted average age as of December 31, 2008. In addition to the dry fleet Atlantica has an aframax crude carrier on long lease with purchase options.

The size of vessels owned by Augustea in the past ranges from dry bulk handysizes to aframax crude oil carriers. This has made it possible for our crews and shore-based staff to build up operational skills on a variety of vessels and in techniques for the transportation of key commodities.

Today the Augustea Group moves an annual volume of about 26 million tonnes of bulk commodities across the globe with an average fleet of about 45 vessels, either owned or chartered. As always, the underlying approach is that of providing a first-class service to customers, emphasising flexibility and reliability.

Over the past three years the Group has been the main carrier of coal imported in the USA with a market share of almost 50%.
