On 27th June 2009 the 8,000KW tug vessel named "Carlo Martello" has been delivered to Augustea Imprese Marittime e di Salvataggi Spa, by the shipyard Rosetti Marino, Ravenna, Italy.
The vessel is the twin of the tug Carlo Magno, so far the flagship of the deep-sea tug fleet. The vessel has the innovative "UT 514 L", developed specifically by Rolls Royce to meet the precise requirements of the company, it runs on heavy fuel oil, a solution that turned out to be particularly competitive in the case of the Carlo Magno.
The Carlo Martello has a power of 12,000 BHP, a bollard pull of around 150 tons and a speed of over 15 knots. The vessel is equipped with R.I.N.A. Fire Fighting 1, with an autoprotection system which can be used for salvage services.
With these two high-service vessels having with the same characteristics, which makes them perfectly interchangeable, Augustea Group is aiming at consolidating its presence in the offshore towage market.
The delivery ceremony was attended by Lucio Zagari (Chairman of Augustea Group) and Pietrantonio Cafiero (Tug Division COO).
Maria Laura Zagari, sponsor of the ship, successfully cut the champagne cord marking an exciting moment. The delivery confirmed the long standing relation between the Rosetti Marino shipyard and the Augustea Group, as Mr. Lucio Zagari remarked: "We are grateful to Rossetti Marino, a well-known shipyard that made an excellent job, but the launch of a new vessel is a ceremony that involves everyone: from the shipyard workers to the crew members, mostly Sicilians in this case. We are grateful to all of them".
