On 4 August 2009 the 76,500DWT Panamax dry-cargo named "AOM Julia" has been delivered at the Shin Kasado Dockyard, member of the Imabari Shipbuilding Group, Japan.
The vessel, a technologically up-to-date design from the Japanese relevant shipyard, is owned by Keishin Kaiun Co. – one of the leading shipping companies in Japan, founded in 1959 - and chartered on a long-term contract to AOM, a group subsidiary. She is the second vessel delivered to AOM, the first being "AOM Milena" built by the same shipyard and delivered last June.
AOM Julia, LOA m. 225, draft m. 14.193, is on a long term time-charter to Mittal and immediately after delivery headed towards Mexico for its inaugural trip.
The delivery ceremony, held at the Imabari premises near Hiroshima, was attended by Raffaele Zagari (Managing Director of Augustea Atlantica), Kurt Erhardt (Director of AOM) and Maurizio Pavesi (Augustea Group CFO).
Federica Zagari, sponsor of the ship, successfully cut the champagne supporting rope, naming the ship from her daughter Julia.
Mr. Setsuhiro Kurokawa, Executive Vice President of Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Mr. Takeshi Setozaki, Sener Coordinator Ship & Marine Project Division of Mitsui & Co. and Mr. Kazuki Fukunaga, President of the Keishin Kaiun shipyard, all expressed their congratulations for the successful christening and delivery ceremony and wished all the best to "AOM Julia".
Raffaele Zagari pointed that this deal is another milestone in the long-term relation over the years Augustea has built with the Japanese shipping community.
