On 18th September 2009 the mini cape "AOM Sophie" has been delivered at Oshima Shipbuilding.

The vessel, measuring 106,498 DWT on 13,4 m, is owned by Mitsubishi Ore Transport and chartered on a ten years contract with purchase options to AOM, a group subsidiary.

Although intended to serve the Colombia-USA coal business, the vessel has been initially chartered to Mitsui OSK Line and she was bound to load at Newcastle Queensland on her maiden voyage.

The delivery ceremony at Oshima was attended, amongst other, by Raffaele Zagari (MD of Augustea Atlantica), Koert Erhardt (director of AOM), Petros Pappas (director of AOM). Mr George Wilbanks president of Drummond Coal was a welcomed guest of Augustea.

Ms Sophie Erhardt, after whom the vessel was named, successfully cut the champagne supporting cord.

Mr Minami president of Oshima, Mr Usami president of MOT, Mr Ohno general manager of Sumitomo Corporation addressed the guests after the naming ceremony. Mr Erhardt, on behalf of AOM, thanked all those involved and expressed the wish of a long lasting relationship with MOT and Oshima.

Ms Erhardt performance for the guests of an Italian "aria" and a Japanese traditional song was the perfect finale for a memorable event for all those participating.
