On 23rd June 2009 the 76,500DWT Panamax dry-cargo named "AOM Milena" has been delivered at the Shin Kasado Dockyard, member of the Imabari Shipbuilding Group, Japan.
The vessel, a technologically up-to-date design from the Japanese relevant shipyard, is owned by Hakuto Shipping (Panama) SA, a subsidiary of Nissen Kaiun Co. Ltd - one of the most prominent ship-owners’ companies in Japan - and chartered on a long-term contract to AOM, a group subsidiary.
AOM Milena, LOA m. 225, draft m. 14.193, is on a long term time-charter to Fratelli D’Amato and immediately after delivery headed towards Australia for its inaugural trip.
The delivery ceremony, held at the Imabari premises near Hiroshima, was attended by Lucio Zagari (Chairman of Augustea Group), Michele Verde (Managing Director of Augustea Atlantica) and Petros Pappas (Director of AOM).
Milena Pappas, Mr. Pappas’ daughter, sponsor of the ship, successfully cut the champagne supporting rope, naming the ship from her name.
Mr. Lucio Zagari pointed out that this ceremony represents a further step in our long term and profitable business relationship – dated 1965 - with Japanese shipyards and wished "safe voyages for the "AOM Milena" and the success and prosperity of Nissen Kaiun Group, Augustea Group, Oceanbulk Maritime, Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Banchero Costa & C. S.p.A. and the other companies concerned, and the good health and the happiness of everyone gathered here today."
